The immortal words of Ferenc Kazinczy are ones we have aspired to live by ever since we embarked on this journey in 1989.

Logistics has been an enterprise since ancient times – and we began to develop specialist software on a specialist market within this business sector back when we were established, and we have continued doing so ever since.

Our sector-specific PharmaLog and StoreIS software solutions, with features developed down to the smallest detail, were made for companies where distribution is the “core business” and not just one of many activities.

I can confidently claim that if a company is in need of a system where the functionality and sophistication of the WM module is of prime importance, then our software is one of the best solutions available on the market!

We strongly believe in intensive work performed in a climate of freedom which strives for win-win relationships – as the inscription at the entrance to the Porto stock exchange says:

Since the beginning, our profile has been the development of software that fulfils the business-critical, specialized IT needs within the logistics (the core business) of pharmaceutical wholesalers.

We plan for the long term with our customers; we have maintained close ties with each of our key customers for many years – providing them with a customised and validated system that suits their needs, and carrying out maintenance according to the revised requirements.

SZEGED Software Zrt’s customers include wholesalers with only a few terminals as well as companies that operate networks containing several remote sites and several hundred terminals.

Company History

Important Milestones and Events in the Life of Our Company

1989 - The Founding of Our Company

Our company was established on 7 April 1989 – its owners are Hungarian private individuals.

We received our first assignment from the Pharmaceutical Centre of Csongrád County for the deployment of an inventory management system. Since then, we have been present in the pharmaceutical wholesale logistics software market, all the while keeping abreast of and serving the constant changes.

1997 - A Breakthrough Year

In eight years, we had launched our application in 12 out of 19 county pharmaceutical centres and several private wholesalers.

However, this year proved to be our breakthrough year: We deployed a technologically redesigned version of our PharmaLog software at 6 Hungarian sites of the largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in Europe, PHOENIX Pharma.

2001 - PharmaLog Deployment at TEVA

Deployment of the PharmaLog system at the Hungarian branches of the Israeli company TEVA was a multi-stage process, in coordination with a development effort at the wholesaler – as it was at TLK, one of the state-of-the-art warehouses in Europe, built in 2006.

They were able to employ a number of customised warehouse technologies for picking with our help at their 10,000 m2 warehouse.

2006 - Establishing a Subsidiary in Romania

We set up a subsidiary in Târgu Mureș under the name Pharmalog Srl with the aim of representing SZEGED Software’s products in Romania, supporting system deployment projects, and providing support for our software.

2007 - PharmaLog’s SAAS version is launched

Seeing an increasing number of “small” pharmaceutical wholesalers appear on the market, we launched PharmaLog’s hosted (SaaS) version.

We offer our product as a service to partners specialising in the marketing of individual active substances or product lines who represent individual pharmaceutical manufacturers or pharmacy groups, with a complete IT architecture including deployment, system administration and control services. We were surprised as well at the keen interest it generated, continuing to this day.

2008 - Live System Launch in Romania

The first live system deployment in Romania at 10 sites belonging to pharmaceutical wholesaler Pharmafarm (Richter Romania).

In the following years, Bucharest wholesalers Farmexim and HelpNet would also choose PharmaLog.

2017 - Inroads into the Polish Market

With the goal of expanding our market opportunities abroad, we entered into a collaboration with Polish company Optima Systems to market our products and provide support services in Poland.

The pictures taken two years later at our company retreat organised for SZEGED Software’s 30th birthday also show our Polish, Romanian, and Hungarian staff.

FMD MedTracS

2019 - MedTracS Enters the Stage

The European Parliament’s Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) made the serialisation of pharmaceuticals compulsory for market participants.

Our product, MedTracS is a multilingual, smartphone-compatible, cloud-based application. With the help of our partners abroad, we have implemented it at more than 50 distributors from 5 countries.

PharmaLog Srl. was established in 2006 in Târgu Mureș as a subsidiary of SZEGED Software Zrt. Its mission is to represent software products – primarily the PharmaLog system – on the Romanian market.

Through continuous collaboration with Szeged Software’s staff, they have gained a wealth of experience in the fields of pharmaceutical wholesale logistics, systems development, programming, and also user support.

Our common goal is to increase our market share in Romania, thereby creating a strong, stable, and reliable service platform for this extremely exacting and specialized sphere of enterprises.

Introducing Optima.Systems Sp. z o.o.

The satisfaction expressed by our ever-growing customer base prompted us to make inroads into the Polish market as well in 2017. We entered into a collaboration agreement with the Optima.Systems company, based in Gliwice and Warsaw.

Our enthusiastic Polish colleagues are primarily tasked with representing the PharmaLog and MedTracS systems on the Polish market, and to perform marketing and support duties.

They have achieved quick success with sales of the MedTracS software service – more than 20 pharmaceutical wholesalers adopted it in Poland and Slovakia in the 2019-2021 period.

The Polish distribution of the PharmaLog system is also shaping up to be promising; our Polish colleagues have received several calls showing genuine interest, held presentations and organised reference visits to pharmaceutical wholesale companies.

We feel it is our duty, and we will do our utmost to perform it to the highest standards we are capable of, which is why we achieved ISO 9001 certification, and we are also proud of our awards and the authorisation form OGYÉI.

Our PharmaLog software was reviewed by the National Institute of Pharmacy and Nutrition of Hungary over several inspections held at a number of pharmaceutical wholesalers, and has been endorsed both from a functional standpoint as well as regarding documentation.
